Aboriginal Governance and Sovereignty ABST-201

Course Name: Aboriginal Governance and Sovereignty
Course Number: ABST-201
Category: Distance Learning
Description This course - Governance and Sovereignty - introduces students to the unique concepts and discussions about governance and sovereignty for Canadian Aboriginal populations. In an Aboriginal context, sovereignty is based on a spiritual understanding that the Creator gives humans the responsibility for governing themselves, as well as taking care of the environment that we live in and share with the plants and animals. Aboriginal peoples assert that this understanding is within them and that self-determination is therefore is a basic need of all humans. Every attempt has been made to present a holistic interpretation of past events and contemporary Aboriginal perspectives.
