| Description | Awareness of our visual culture is fundamental to the success of all artists and designers. In a world that has become a "global village," visual culture includes historical and contemporary forms of visual expression from a world-wide perspective.
Visual culture in this course will include visual art, crafts, applied design (graphic design, architecture, industrial design) popular culture (graffiti, graphic novels, animation, games) and the culture of virtual communities. This foundation-level survey course will introduce students to historical and contemporary aspects of the visual culture through classroom presentations, field trips, artist and designer visits and personal creative explorations. |
