Description This course will introduce the Registered Nurse to theoretical concepts and the principles of practice of Perioperative Nursing. The learner will use the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) standards of practice as the foundation for providing patient care in the preoperative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings in both the scrub and circulating roles. Throughout the course, emphasis will be on the provision of safe, individualized patient-focused care and the utilization of effective communication skills within a multi-disciplinary health care team. The minimum passing grade for this course is 75% (B+).
