Description This course will introduce the Registered Practical Nurse to theoretical concepts and the principles of practice of Perioperative Nursing. You will use the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC) standards of practice as the foundation for providing patient care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings with a particular focus on the intraoperative phase and the scrub role. Throughout the course, emphasis will be on the provision of safe, individualized patient-focused care and the utilization of effective communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team.

Notes The minimum passing grade for this course is 75% (B+).
