Introduction to Networks CCTC-501

Course Name: Introduction to Networks
Course Number: CCTC-501
Category: Distance Learning
Description CCNA 1 covers networking architecture, models, and protocols. The course introduces the principles and
structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations to provide a
foundation for the CCNA curriculum.
This is the first of three courses that are designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for
successful completion of the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) examination. By the end of the
course, students will be able to build simple LANs, perform basic configurations on routers and switches,
and implement IP addressing schemes.
Once the student has completed the course, the student will reliably demonstrate the ability to:
1. Describe the devices and operations used to access local and remote network resources
2. Describe the roles of protocol layers in networking models
3. Explain fundamental switching concepts
4. Design and calculate subnet masks to fulfill given requirements in IPv4 and IPv6 networks
5. Implement a simple network for a small to medium-sized business
6. Use the Cisco command line interface to configure routers and switches
7. Use common network tools to monitor and analyze network operations

Notes This course is offered in Distance Online format only.
