Project Management Basics (Part-time) MCMC-704
Course Name: | Project Management Basics (Part-time) |
Course Number: | MCMC-704 |
Category: | Media, Arts and Design |
Description | Course Description
Project management is a methodical approach to planning and guiding project processes from conception to completion. Over the last decade, cultural organizations undertaking complex projects have turned to project management's formalized processes and approaches to ensure project efficiencies, outcomes and accountability. This course introduces students to the theory and practice of Project Management, knowledge critical in undertaking projects in larger organizations and government organizations. Additionally, while major projects such as "blockbuster" exhibitions or building and renovation projects require conventional project management tools, many cultural managers are scaling Project Management's processes and approaches to smaller projects. Exercises and site visits will focus on how to use the best of formal project management tools in order to manage educational programs, events, fundraising campaigns, and smaller exhibitions. |
