Description Students will be introduced to industry standard Pro Tools Software often used by many Audio
Professionals worldwide. This course will involve an overview of common workflow strategies
used during the production process, such as building rhythms, "comping" vocals, editing
techniques, routing and session organization.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Upon successful completion of this course the student should be able to:
1. Identify the hardware components of a Pro Tools System
2. Create, open, play, and close a session
3. Identify, operate and customize the Edit and Mix windows
4. Access supporting windows such as the Big Counter and System usage windows.
5. Understand the 4 primary Edit modes: Shuffle, Slip, Spot and Grid
6. Understand the difference between absolute and relative grid behaviour
7. Manipulate clips using standard editing tools
8. Manipulate clips using Clip Gain and Strip Silence
9. Manipulate clips using nudge, mute, lock, duplicate and repeat
10. Utilize Clip Groups to organize complex edits
11. Utilize Playlist editing to 'comp' vocals
12. Manipulate clips using Elastic Audio for loops as well as pitch correction
13. Consolidate clips
14. Organize sessions for clarity using colours, memory locators and Mix/Edit Groups
15. Create a mixer to organize common elements of a song
16. Utilize Send/Returns for shared effects such as Reverb and Delay
17. Create customized routing using the I/O setup window
18. Utilize SIP and AFL/PFL Solo modes
19. Apply plug-in effects to tracks
20. Utilize and edit automation on various track and plug-in parameters
21. Use Playlists to create difference mix versions
22. Create Final Mix files
