From Awareness to Action - Disability in Post-Secondary Education TLHE-722

Course Name: From Awareness to Action - Disability in Post-Secondary Education
Course Number: TLHE-722
Category: Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
Description Join us for a transformative eight-week course designed to challenge and expand your understanding of disability in higher education. Shaped by many disabled and non-disabled voices and perspectives, this course is designed to deeply explore ableism--the systemic practices privileging non-disabled individuals--and its manifestations in higher education.
You will learn alongside facilitators, guest speakers, and peers to challenge assumptions about disability, critically analyze systemic barriers and explore practical strategies for creating accessible and inclusive learning experiences. The course features interactive learning, reflective activities, case studies, and collaborative projects, all designed to help you move from awareness to action.

Flexible learning options are available through weekly asynchronous modules and four synchronous sessions (Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm in weeks 1, 3, 5, 7), which can be attended face-to-face or via Zoom. Join us to become an empowered advocate for change, equipped to dismantle barriers and champion the full participation of all learners in inclusive and just learning environments.
