Description This course will explore the complexity of running a small business either independently or as part of a licensed agency. Students will identify the regulations governing home child care. Discussion of licensed and un-licensed child care will include the benefits and drawbacks of each related to the following areas: expenses, income, policies and guidelines for home childcare, personal philosophies, supports for caregivers, quality of care for children and planning for emergencies (contact information, hospital consent, emergency back-up, missing children)
Financial literacy will be explored through the development of record keeping, fee policies, insurances (home and car), and income tax planning.
Marketing strategies will be introduced and the importance of clear representation of the introductory level of this certification discussed.
