Description A comprehensive and student needs driven course that is case study focused on practical application of best practice in the field of infection prevention & control. Open to those who have taken an IPAC-Canada endorsed course, have experience in the field, and are looking to challenge, stretch and solidify their knowledge and appreciation of their role as Infection Prevention and Control Professionals.

Hybrid delivery 42 hours/ 14 weeks
Assignment will be major project related to their place of employment
Confidentiality discussion-those students would when talking about their place of employment may refer to it as the hypothetical hospital and include confidentiality form
Include in curriculum:
• Policy making and literature review
• Skills to be effective ICP manager
• Risk management and accreditation
• Look back and live audit
• Surveillance and contact tracing for example UTI
• Analysis of statistics and interpretation
• How to use statistics to affect change
• How to use surveillance effectively to affect practice changes
• LEAN and PDSA definition and include in quality assurance
• Control charts
• Used examples in critical appraisal of literature
• Revisit Journal club
• Cost analysis

PI-100 - Infection Prevention and Control
PI-200 - Infection Prevention and Control Practicum

Basic course in Infection Control (PI-100) that is endorsed by IPAC-Canada plus practicum course (PI-200) or already working in the field *degree in Health Science
