Description | This course addresses post-anaesthesia nursing care from admission to discharge. Various anaesthetic techniques will be discussed, as will post-anaesthesia nursing care for various surgical specialties. The use of specialized monitoring equipment and data interpretation will also be covered. Other topics include the assessment and management of post-operative pain, care of patients with thermal imbalance, care of the shock trauma patient and airway management.
Students need to obtain clearance from Centennial College Clinical Placement Office in order for us to find you the placement (police check takes three months). PLEASE NOTE: Students need to complete CECC-401 (Critical Care Concepts 1) and CECC-402 (Critical Care Concepts 2) and CECC-404 (Intensive Care Nursing) in order to take this course. |
Notes | This course is blended with online theory with one in-hospital observation day for course completion.
