Description | The Addictions Work: Professional Practice Skills Certificate provides students with an opportunity to focus on the knowledge, skills and techniques that are recognized as being fundamental to work in the addictions field. This program is suitable for community service professionals who are working in the community services field or graduates of a community services diploma or degree (ex. Social Work, Social Service Work, Child and Youth Care, Community and Justice Services), who want to further develop their knowledge and skills in the field of addictions. This program takes a multidisciplinary approach, combining theoretical concepts with practical applications. In this program, students will have the opportunity to experientially learn about the field of addictions, through hearing from guest speakers, and participating in case-studies and field trips. This program is suitable for individuals who are currently employed or entering employment in an addiction related work environment, or want to further develop their knowledge and skills in the field of addictions.
These courses have been approved for study credit by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF). Students will get a Centennial College Certificate completing all 5 courses. |
Admission | Admission Requirements: This course is for professionals working in the field with experience and / or Education at the College / University level (2 year program min)
Students need to be: (a) the holder of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or its equivalent; (b) 19 years of age or older on or before the commencement of the program in which the student intends to enroll |
